November Favorites | 2015

So, it’s halfway through December. I messed up. Pretend I wrote this two weeks ago. XOXO

Philosophy 3-in-1 Shower Gels // $18 at Ulta // I have four scents: Christmas Cookie (which I’ve mentioned several times), Yellow Birthday Cake, Sparkling Ginger, and Cinnamon Buns. I picked up Cinnamon Buns on Black Friday, and I’ve been using it almost daily as a body wash and shampoo. I love how warm and cozy the scent makes me feel, especially when I know it’s chilly and snowy outside! These seem expensive, but each bottle is enough for daily shampoo + body wash for close to a full year – so in reality, it’s probably cheaper than what you’re using now in the long run. Unless you’re using Alberto V05. Hopefully you’re not using Alberto V05. Bless your hair if you are.

Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Pink Spice // $17 at Clinique // I have been loving this creamy lipstick lately! On my lips, it comes across as a midtone berry-pink with medium coverage. It’s a versatile shade that works well for both day and night, and lasts for a few hours without drying out my lips. I still don’t get the hype on liquid lipsticks, so I’ll stick with the classics like this one!

Batiste Dry Shampoo // $8-9 at Ulta // I blog about dry shampoo a lot. I think I may have included a new one in almost every favorites blog I’ve ever done. That being said…this is my ultimate favorite dry shampoo that I’ve ever tried to date. From Redken to Suave and everything in between, Batiste is the clear winner! Most recently, I’d been using the Redken Pillow Proof dry shampoo, which is $18 for 3.4oz and an absolute rip off. I was seriously disappointed with that product – it made my hair feel damp, definitely did not extend my hair for an extra two days as advertised, and didn’t last long due to the small amount in the can. I picked up Batiste in the cherry + blush scents at Ulta, and not only do I love how they smell, they actually work! I can go 3 days without washing my hair – allowing me to extend my style, save me time, and save my hair from the damage of washing + styling every day. I have the blush scent as well, and I’m equally pleased. By the way, for half the cost you get almost twice the product: $8 gets you 6.73oz of product.

Sonoma scented wax cubes in Woodland Pine // on sale for $3 at Kohl’s // Oh. My. Actual. Goodness. This scent gives me life. I’m weirdly addicted to it. I’m probably going to have to go back to Kohl’s and buy 12 more so that my house can smell like a magical Christmas tree every day of the year. If I had to describe the smell….imagine cutting down the best smelling Christmas tree in the most magical winter wonderland. And there you have it, folks. I might be certifiably crazy. but at least my room smells good, right?

Pageant Material by Kacey Musgraves // $10 on iTunes // I have been listening to this album a lot lately! I think Kacey is not only an extremely talented singer, but a relatable and authentic songwriter as well. “Biscuits” is a great song for when everyone is annoying you, “Family is Family” is great for encouraging you through those awkward holiday family gatherings, and “Fine” is a ballad that I think every military significant other can relate to. Give it a listen!

China Glaze nail lacquer in Bing Cherry // $6.69 on Amazon // I honestly do not know how else to describe this color other than by saying it’s the color of a bing cherry. I love China Glaze polishes because they always last me a week at least without chipping and have such rich shades! This is a fabulous reddish hue for the holidays.

Gain Fireworks in Sweet Sizzle // $6.99 at Target // I don’t know about you, but I love the smell of fresh laundry. Lately, I’ve been using Tide Pods w/Febreze in Botanical Rain with these Fireworks and I seriously catch myself sniffing my clothes throughout the day because they smell so good. The other day, someone told me I smelled good. And I wasn’t wearing perfume. It was my clothes. #LaundryGoals

November wasn’t a very exciting month for favorites, but I promise I’ve got some goodies coming for December 🙂

What have you been loving lately?

Black Friday Grabs + B&BW Candle Haul!

Happy December everyone! I’m working on a November Faves blog right now, but I figured I’d share a few of the items I picked up while shopping on Black Friday! I did leave a few things out: a bath rug from Target (yawn) and a few other things that I picked up as gifts. My husband and I also got a great deal on a mattress, but that didn’t seem blog-worthy either. (I wonder why?) Bath and Body Works just had a crazy good deal on their 3 wick candles, so I’m including that as well. I don’t usually go crazy with Black Friday shopping, and that didn’t change this year. I did get a few new things though, so here we go!

Let’s just ignore my awkward poses, shall we?

Gray long-sleeve top // $10 at Old Navy // I don’t usually shop at Old Navy (affectionately called Old Gravy), but the whole store was 50% off and they had a ton of cute stuff! This shirt is soft and cozy, perfect for lazy winter outfits.

Black hi-lo hem top // $12.50 at Express // I honestly don’t usually shop at Express either, but apparently I was feeling adventurous! This top is super soft, has a subtle v-neck, and the hi-lo hem creates a flattering silhouette. It can be dressed up or down, and I’ve been loving it with jeans and boots lately!

Lavender shawl sweater // $15 at Old Navy // I’ve been wearing this cozy sweater constantly and the unique color adds something special to a plain top! It is soft and great for layering.

Critical Catch Packers Beanie // $17 at the Packers Pro Shop // I love the Packers, I love beanies, and I love any opportunity to combine the color pink with a good cause. It’s cute and fleece lined – perfect for Wisconsin winters!

Philosophy 3-in-1 shower gel in Cinnamon Buns // $12 at Ulta // It’s my Black Friday tradition to pick up a new one of these at Ulta every year! I love these shower gels and they last forever. Cinnamon Buns is a cozy, familiar scent, and I love lathering up with it.

You’ve probably figured out by now that I love candles, so when I heard that B&BW candles were $8 in stores, I knew I had to snag some for my & hubs’ new apartment! I picked up Fresh Balsam, ‘Tis the Season, Peppermint Marshmallow, Twisted Peppermint, and Marshmallow Fireside. The candles are retail priced at $22.50, and after a $15 off $40 coupon, I got them for $5.50 a piece. Great deal, right?!

I went later in the day, so unfortunately they were pretty cleared out of candles that I would usually buy, however, I am excited to try out the new scents! (Hence the marshmallow scents) I was surprised how vicious people were in the store though – a woman actually stole the Marshmallow Fireside candle that I originally had, which was the last one with a winter label in the store, so I had to track one down with the fall label. She actually had her arms so full after taking my candle that she dropped a different one and shattered it, and then didn’t even tell the workers! Ruthless. She must be friends with Peach Bellini Lady. (Seriously, watch the video. You won’t regret it.)

That concludes my purchases, and thank you to all of the brave people that work in retail! You have more patience than I ever will. What’d y’all buy? Share with me in the comments!
