K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Eyebrow Tint • Fri-yay!

Happy Friday! I snagged some new products at the drugstore today and couldn’t wait to try the K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Eyebrow Tint…so keep reading! 👇🏼

I purchased the shade 02 Natural Brown. It looks somewhat like a lipgloss tube with a brush applicator, and the product is a gel that looks frighteningly black. For someone like me with blonde hair, it felt a little ominous. But, ya know…do it for the ‘Gram. You apply the product to clean eyebrows and let it sit for a minimum of two hours, but preferably overnight. When you’re ready to reveal your new brows, simply peel off the product and voila! This product won a 2017 Cosme award (think Allure beauty picks). I have thin, sparse eyebrows and I would loooove not having to spend time filling them in every morning.

I was surprised at how easy it was to apply. There are two eyebrow stencils tucked into the box, but they were both too thick for my natural brow shape. If you make any mistakes, you can swipe them away easily with a q-tip. When you first apply it, it looks very dark and ridiculous. I felt kind of like Groucho Marx, which then made me really antsy about committing, but the tint only lasts up to a week, so it’s not nearly as much of a commitment as microblading. I figured I could just cover my eyebrows with foundation and salvage them with a pencil if my little experiment went south.

I left the tint on for about three hours (I was impatient and nervous, what can I say!), and I was shocked 1. at how easy and painless it was to peel off, and 2. at how good it looks! My brows definitely look fuller and more defined, and I’m so excited about shaving time off my morning routine. It only took me 5-10 minutes to apply the tint, which should last for 3 to 5 days. A few sweeps of the Kate Tokyo brow powder I picked up today should be more than enough in the mornings now! 🙌🏼

If you’d like to try the 1 Day Tattoo Eyebrow Tint, it’s available on Amazon. Okinawa friends: you can find this at Tokyu Hands, Don Q, and some Matsumoto Kiyoshi drugstores for roughly ¥1200. The product comes in 5 shades: Light Brown, Natural Brown, Mocha Brown, Ash Brown, and Smoky Brown. If you have sparse brows like me or are just looking for an easy, low maintenance brow routine, I highly recommend trying this product out!

Plant Therapy Haul

Happy Fri-YAY!

As we spring into Spring, I’ve decided to spend more time making our home feel like an inviting, comfortable, and restful space. Over the next month or so, I plan to eliminate unnecessary clothes and shoes from our closets, purge our pantry of old food, and rearrange some furniture. I also want to stop burning candles and wax melts, which cover up household smells (read: I have a dog) with a strong fragrance. Diffusers are relaxing to watch, and the scents don’t give me headaches or leave the air feeling stuffy.

My husband got me an adorable wooden diffuser as a gift, and it’s been dormant for the last few months. I’ve been burning candles and wax melts, but diffusing gives that “clean air” feeling rather than a strong artificial fragrance. I wouldn’t say I’m sold on the essential oil lifestyle, but I do use and enjoy them.

I buy pretty much exclusively from Plant Therapy for several reasons: they have great customer service, fast shipping, quality oils, reasonable prices, transparent testing, and certified aromatherapists. I don’t support Young Living or DoTerra on the basis of their misleading business practices (therapeutic grade means nothing and neither does seed to seal 😱) and lack of credible consultants. Anyone can invest money and become a consultant for those companies, meaning they aren’t required by DoTerra or Young Living to be certified aromatherapists or experts on the safe use of essential oils. As a result, consultants have given out incredibly dangerous and unsafe advice, something I experienced firsthand from a DoTerra consultant. I strongly encourage you to research any company you buy essential oils from in depth, because it’s a relatively unregulated market and it’s hard to make sure you’re buying unadulterated and reasonably priced oils no matter where you buy. I personally love Plant Therapy, but Mountain Rose Herbs and Edens Garden are also companies I trust.

Since I’m trying to stray away from candles/wax melting, I bought a handful of new oils to use and diffuse this spring! Previously, I had pretty much only diffused lavender. I’m most excited to diffuse the Worry Free Synergy, which smells so incredibly amazing and inviting. I’ve also got a blog in the works about the Zit Fighter Synergy specifically (hint: it’s amazing!).

  • Let It Go Synergy // $11.95 // tangerine, ylang ylang, patchouli, sweet orange, blue tansy
  • Worry Free Synergy // $14.95 // lavender, marjoram, ylang ylang, sandalwood, vanilla CO2, roman chamomile
  • Zit Fighter Synergy // $14.99 // geranium bourbon, pink grapefruit, cedar wood deodars, peppermint, rosemary, roman chamomile
  • Citrus Burst Synergy // $7.95 // grapefruit, lemon, lime, may chang, mandarin, sweet orange
  • Lucky Synergy // limited edition // bergamot, steam distilled lime, spearmint

What are your favorite essential oil blends/companies to buy from and why? Let me know in the comments!

Much love,

Daiso/Don Quijote Haul!

As if there weren’t already enough cute, fun things in Japan, there are these neat stores called Daiso, where everything (almost) is ‎¥‎100. AND most of the inventory is much more practical and better-made than some of the things I’ve seen at dollar stores back in the States! I was like a kid in a candy store walking through there, y’all. I went to the pink Daiso in Ginowan, and it was comparable to a Walmart in terms of selection and products, and I was able to score almost everything in this haul for $20! I also paid a visit to another store, Don Quijote (or Donki/Don Q) which is more of a discount store with lots of imports. I actually thought it was a little pricey! I still snagged some goodies, though 😉

Here’s a list of the things I bought at the Daiso:

  • frilly scrunchie (they’re making a comeback)
  • heart shaped earring backs
  • mini hair elastics
  • sock bun thingamajig
  • strawberry scented glitter nail polish remover
  • aloe vera facial cleanser
  • makeup brush/sponge cleanser
  • silicone vegetable scrubber (I bought it as a makeup brush scrubbie)
  • ceramic lotus soy sauce dish (repurposed as a ring dish)
  • heart-shaped sunnies
  • oven mitt
  • mason jar sippy
  • no-show socks
  • doggy poo bags + holder
  • not pictured: dog toy
  • 3 different plastic organizers
  • not pictured: pasta strainer
  • not pictured: burlap pouch decoration
  • not pictured: fake decorative herbs

What I picked up at Don Q:

  • 7-pack of LuLuLun brightening sheet masks
  • peel-off lip stain
  • Alice in Wonderland DVD (bonus: it plays in english and was only ‎¥‎148)

I’ve had the chance to test out some of the products I bought and I have to say, I am really impressed with the quality of the items I bought! I could probably spend hours in the store, wandering through the aisles and justifying purchasing things I don’t need. Have you ever been to a Daiso? What are your favorite dollar store finds? Let me know in the comments below!

OOTD & Mini Target Haul!

Hi lovelies 💕
It has been pretty cold here lately, so I’ve been getting good use out of my Hunter boots. I’m wearing a loose fitting black top with a ruffle detail from Forever 21, a 3/4 sleeve sweater from Madewell, and my beloved black Jessica Simpson skinny jeans. Casual, comfy, and black like my soul.
Hubs and I met up with some friends for pho, and then ran some errands at Target, where I couldn’t resist the glorious selection of drugstore makeup.

Nyx Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Tea and Cookies // $7 // I’ve been dying to try this! The soft matte lippies are a no go for me because the formula is so dry, so I’m hoping I can make this one work.

Essence Blush Up! in Pinky Flow // $4 // As I’m sure you’ve figured out by now, Benefit Dallas is my go-to everyday blush. Sadly, I’ve hit pan on it, so I was on the hunt for a substitute. I found this pretty ombré blush from Essence, and while it’s not a natural flush like Dallas, it’s perfect for spring!

Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Foundation // $9 // I bought this on the recommendation of my friend Emma over at The Traveler’s Wife Blog. I just ran out of my Covergirl 3-in-1 this morning, so the timing was perfect. I don’t typically branch out and try new drugstore foundations for fear of breakouts and bad shade selections, but the reviews of this look really promising! I’m excited to give it a try.

Have a great Saturday! Xx

Black Friday Grabs + B&BW Candle Haul!

Happy December everyone! I’m working on a November Faves blog right now, but I figured I’d share a few of the items I picked up while shopping on Black Friday! I did leave a few things out: a bath rug from Target (yawn) and a few other things that I picked up as gifts. My husband and I also got a great deal on a mattress, but that didn’t seem blog-worthy either. (I wonder why?) Bath and Body Works just had a crazy good deal on their 3 wick candles, so I’m including that as well. I don’t usually go crazy with Black Friday shopping, and that didn’t change this year. I did get a few new things though, so here we go!

Let’s just ignore my awkward poses, shall we?

Gray long-sleeve top // $10 at Old Navy // I don’t usually shop at Old Navy (affectionately called Old Gravy), but the whole store was 50% off and they had a ton of cute stuff! This shirt is soft and cozy, perfect for lazy winter outfits.

Black hi-lo hem top // $12.50 at Express // I honestly don’t usually shop at Express either, but apparently I was feeling adventurous! This top is super soft, has a subtle v-neck, and the hi-lo hem creates a flattering silhouette. It can be dressed up or down, and I’ve been loving it with jeans and boots lately!

Lavender shawl sweater // $15 at Old Navy // I’ve been wearing this cozy sweater constantly and the unique color adds something special to a plain top! It is soft and great for layering.

Critical Catch Packers Beanie // $17 at the Packers Pro Shop // I love the Packers, I love beanies, and I love any opportunity to combine the color pink with a good cause. It’s cute and fleece lined – perfect for Wisconsin winters!

Philosophy 3-in-1 shower gel in Cinnamon Buns // $12 at Ulta // It’s my Black Friday tradition to pick up a new one of these at Ulta every year! I love these shower gels and they last forever. Cinnamon Buns is a cozy, familiar scent, and I love lathering up with it.

You’ve probably figured out by now that I love candles, so when I heard that B&BW candles were $8 in stores, I knew I had to snag some for my & hubs’ new apartment! I picked up Fresh Balsam, ‘Tis the Season, Peppermint Marshmallow, Twisted Peppermint, and Marshmallow Fireside. The candles are retail priced at $22.50, and after a $15 off $40 coupon, I got them for $5.50 a piece. Great deal, right?!

I went later in the day, so unfortunately they were pretty cleared out of candles that I would usually buy, however, I am excited to try out the new scents! (Hence the marshmallow scents) I was surprised how vicious people were in the store though – a woman actually stole the Marshmallow Fireside candle that I originally had, which was the last one with a winter label in the store, so I had to track one down with the fall label. She actually had her arms so full after taking my candle that she dropped a different one and shattered it, and then didn’t even tell the workers! Ruthless. She must be friends with Peach Bellini Lady. (Seriously, watch the video. You won’t regret it.)

That concludes my purchases, and thank you to all of the brave people that work in retail! You have more patience than I ever will. What’d y’all buy? Share with me in the comments!

Ulta/Sephora/Estée Lauder Haul!

Hey yall! I picked up quite a few goodies today. I exchanged something in return for the Naked 3 at Ulta, a palette that I swore up and down I would never buy. Something about the pretty rose-gold tones really drew me in to this palette for summer though and I’m super excited! Here are some swatches, with and without flash.

I also got the acne cleansing Clarisonic head from Ulta, which I redeemed with some of my rewards points. You’re supposed to replace the brush head every three months, and it’s taken me six 😳 Definitely time for a new one!

My next purchases were from Estée Lauder. I’ve been wanting Double Wear for a long time now, and seeing how I’ve been going through drugstore foundations like crazy lately, I decided to invest my money in a quality product. I went in only wanting the liquid, but of course I fell victim to the sales associate and got the powder as well, haha! I have a feeling they will both last me several months. I got the foundation in the shade 2W1 Dawn and the powder in 3W1 Tawny! Estée Lauder was having an amazing free gift with purchase promotion going on, so I got the rest of the stuff + a cute tote bag for free!

Love any of these products? Let me know in the comments! I will review these once I’ve had the chance to test them out thoroughly. Xx

February Faves

february favorites

So, it’s almost halfway through March…but we’ll pretend for a moment that I didn’t totally forget about this blog post and talk about some of my favorite beauty picks from February! Almost all of these products are from the drugstore, and it’s pretty Nyx-heavy (Thanks to Ulta BOGO 50% off). Most of these products I’m still using every day, so you might see them again in my March faves, too 😊

1. Nyx HD Photo Concealer in Porcelain – ($5 at Ulta) – I’ve raved about the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer before, but this concealer from Nyx actually tops that! This is full coverage, creamy with an almost whipped texture, and gives the most flawless finish! Since I have it in the lightest shade, I primarily use this as an undereye concealer, but I plan on purchasing a shade that I can use for face concealing as well. The packaging is cute and it has a convenient doe-foot applicator that fits nicely in the undereye area.

2. Nyx Wonder Pencil in Light – ($4.50 at Ulta) – I’ve never been a fan of white liner on the waterline because I think it looks unnatural and honestly kind of tacky. This is a great flesh-toned pencil that is extremely versatile. I frequently use it to line my waterline for a wide-eye look, but I also use it to highlight under my brows, clean up lipstick around my lips, and spot conceal blemishes. I eyed this pencil for a while before buying it, and some of the reviews on Ulta made me skeptical, but I use this pencil every day and will definitely repurchase it when I run out! One recommendation I would make is to buy separate pencils for your eyes and face, just to prevent potential bacteria issues.

3. Wet N Wild Color Icon Blush in Pearlescent Pink – ($4.60 on Amazon, purchased for under $3 at Walgreens) – This same blush in the shade Heather Silk has gained a lot of attention from beauty gurus on YouTube and blogs, and when I saw one of my favorite YouTube gurus, ThaTaylaa, talk about this blush in one of her videos, I had to buy it! I scoped it out at Walgreens and got it for under $3 – I want to say $2.49 because there was a special on Wet N Wild products. It is SO pigmented…like, I barely dab my brush into the product and have to use a light hand. It’s a gorgeous pink, almost coral, and lasts all day. It looks great with my complexion when it’s fair as well as when I’m self tanning. I think this is a universally flattering shade, and can’t be beat at the price!

4. Benefit Porefessional Primer – ($31 at Ulta) For the last couple years, I have heard a nonstop flood of recommendations and raves about this product! I love high-end beauty products, but it seemed a little ridiculous to spend $31 on primer. I finally committed to it in late January when I got it in a value set from Ulta for $32 with a deluxe sample of the It’s Potent eye cream. I also got a free gift with a $30 Benefit purchase, which was a sample size of Porefessional. A tiny dab covers my whole face, makes it soft and smooth without feeling like I’ve got gobs of product on my face, and keeps me mostly matte all day. I do find it slightly drying on my combo skin, but the benefits outweigh the slight dryness. This product definitely lives up to the hype! Depending on how long this lasts me, I will probably repurchase it. If it doesn’t last me very long, however, I will probably continue to use the Elf Studio Poreless Primer, which gives me similar results for a 5th of the cost.

5. Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation – ($10 at Walmart) – I have repurchased this foundation probably 4 or 5 times in the last two years. I have generally positive feelings about it, and have been loving it lately! It gives the exact amount of coverage I’m looking for (medium-full) in one layer, and it’s super easy to blend with my Sigma F80. I’ve been using it almost every day! I definitely recommend this for people with oily skin, although I will say that finding a shade is definitely difficult in the store. Most of the shades have pink undertones, and some oxidize as well. It has a pump!!!!! So there’s that. Overall, I think it’s a great drugstore foundation, is matte, and doesn’t break out my sensitive skin.

6. Nyx Butter Gloss in Meringue – ($5 at Ulta) – I actually purchased this over the summer, wore it once, and my mom told me I looked ridiculous. So, it sat in my lippie collection until a couple weeks ago, when I spontaneously put it on! It’s SUPER creamy, smells like sweet vanilla, and I’ve actually grown to love the color. It’s barbie pink and about 75% opaque, but you can sheer it out by using a little dab. I will say that it’s a little sticky, and not very longwearing, however it doesn’t dry out my lips at all and I love that it’s not overly glossy. I definitely plan on repurchasing this in other shades!

7. Jordana Cat Eye liquid liner in Black Leather – ($3 at Jordana) – I actually purchased this from Walgreens for the same price, but if you shop online, you can purchase it directly from Jordana’s website. The handle on the applicator is super long on this, so I think it fits really comfortably in your hand. The liner itself is super precise and very black. It dries semi-matte and doesn’t smudge, smear, or flake off. I love it! I will definitely be repurchasing this. I’ve been wearing it almost every day, and I love how easy it is to create a wing with the precise brush applicator.

8. Vaseline Lip Therapy, Cocoa Butter – ($1.87 at Target) – I LUVVVVV THIS STUFF. I have severely dry lips. I’m talking bleeding, peeling, flaking, new layer of skin every day type of dry. The only thing I’ve been able to use in the past with success is Bag Balm, which, if you’ve ever used before, pretty much smells like horse butt and is super duper expensive. So, I recently bought a new bottle of lotion (Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Lotion) and got this as a freebie with it. I already own the Vaseline Lip Therapy in Rosy, which has a subtle pink tint to it, but never found it super moisturizing. This stuff melts onto my lips and keeps them hydrated for hours. I apply once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once before bed and I’m covered all day! It has made a drastic improvement in the condition of my lips and I will for sure be buying more of these.

9. L’Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara – ($10 at Ulta, cheaper elsewhere) – I don’t know what it is about February that makes me want to be all romantic and girly, but for some reason I was really feeling long, fluttery lashes last month! I’m usually the kind of person who looks for a volumizing mascara, and I’ve been using my staples of Urban Decay Big Fatty and Bare Minerals Lash Domination for MONTHS now without changing up my routine. But for whatever reason, I picked this up at Walgreens and have been using it every day since. I have purchased this mascara once before in the past and found it to be very dry and not volumizing enough, but I think I had a dud! Ever since I’ve been using this, I’ve had flake free, long, defined, and thick lashes. I will absolutely be repurchasing from the Telescopic line of mascaras, but I think my next purchase will be the Telescopic 2x in the black tube. I’ll update if I find it anywhere locally! PS – I recommend purchasing this at Target – Walgreens and CVS have it for between $11-13, Walmart and Ulta have it for $10, and I’ve seen it at Target for $7.

That concludes my February Faves! I hope the month of February was sweet to you and that you had a happy Valentine’s Day!
